Identify novel compounds for treatment of patients with Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC).
Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) are chronic liver diseases that are in the worst case progressing towards liver failure with the need for liver transplantation. There is currently no cure for PBC or PSC and treatments consist of ursodeoxycholic acid and obeticholic acid. There is a clear medical need for novel therapeutic options to halt disease progression.
